How to estimate it
Work from fuel economy per seat. A modern airliner burns about 3 litres per passenger per 100 km. The A380 carries about 500 passengers and can fly 15,000 km, which is 150 hundreds of kilometres. 500 × 3 × 150 = 225,000 litres, and the tanks must hold more for reserves and heavy loads. The actual capacity is about 320,000 litres.
